Free Online Pro-D Program
Autism and Neurodiversity in the Workplace
CIRCA announces a New FREE online Pro-D Program that teaches strategies to support autistic and neurodivergent individuals in the workplace.
Autistic and other neurodivergent people often face barriers when it comes to getting and keeping a job. Yet, many have a variety of skills that enable them to thrive in a wide range of careers including retail sales, computer programming, and journalism, to name a few.
Click this link (https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=XazKMQO0plQ&list=PLMyxSGo20h9R4UBdHMBZhXrmIiwWCkiZ5&index=8) to hear Kevin, an autistic employee, discuss the barriers faced by neurodiverse employees.
To help breakdown these barriers, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Collaboration in Autism (CIRCA) at the University of British Columbia has created an exciting new professional development (Pro-D) program, Autism and Neurodiversity in the Workplace – https://circa.educ.ubc.ca/autism-in-the-workplace/.
This program is designed to assist human resource professionals, employment support staff, employers, supervisors, managers, co-workers, autistic employees, and anyone interested in inclusive employment to learn practical strategies on how to support autistic employees and all employees to be successful on the job.
Autism and Neurodiversity in the Workplace was developed with direct input from autistic individuals across Canada. It currently includes five self-paced, interactive modules that cover everything from understanding autism in the workplace to inclusive employee retention strategies. The program is absolutely FREE, is completely online and self-paced.
Autism and Neurodiversity on the Workplace is pre-approved by the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) BC & Yukon for CPD hours.
